Cranhill Community Shop

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm

The Cabin Shop is a corner stone of the Cranhill community where people feel at ease, and where staff and volunteers are on hand to help you with your shopping. We offer good quality stock products including everyday groceries, household cleaning products and much more whilst keeping prices low.

Local, fresh produce
We have a broad selection of fruit and vegetables, and by working closely with our community garden, this allows us to use fresh veg and herbs from the garden especially in the summer months.

Bring along your own tubs or tupperware, and buy loose products such as rice, pastas, grains, herbs and spices. This is a great way to buy the exact quantities you need, reducing food waste and your carbon footprint.

Do not worry if you forgot to bring along your tubs, we have brown paper bags in the shop for you to use.

Our Meal in a bag is exactly what it says, ingredients and a recipe card in a bag to take away and cook at home. Our Meal in a bag feeds a family of four, and includes starters, mains and desserts. These are a great alternative to ready meals and an easy way to learn some new recipes.

Phone ahead on 0141 774 3344 and our friendly team will make your meal in a bag up in advance.

Why shop at The Cabin?
Community shops are an effective mechanism for safeguarding essential retail outlets in areas with little or no other retail shops and a poor public transport, but they also have wider social, economic and environmental benefits.

Community shops particularly benefit those who are disadvantaged by lack of personal transport, limited physical mobility, and those seeking employment or volunteer opportunities. They engage large numbers of the community and stimulate social activity and community cohesion.

Our Community Shop Assistant roles are a fantastic opportunity to gain skills in a retail environment, engage with the community and contribute to the success of this project. Please see our Volunteering Opportunities for more details.
